2010 Community Arts Program

January 26, 2010

The 2010 Winter Community Arts Program is Out!

we are offering classes in printmaking, book binding, oil painting as well as a series of one day workshops.

This year at Balfour House we hope to extend our online presence to showcase the work of the artists resident at the Centre.

Festival Exhibition

January 18, 2010

The Cygnet Folk Festival weekend of 8-9-10th January was an opportunity for the many thousand festival visitors to Cygnet to visit Balfour House.  The exhibition of work made by participants of the 2009 Community Arts program was well received.  Visitors were impressed in the quality of the work made and the variety of techniques taught.

The exhibition also displayed the art made by the ‘inhouse’ artists.  Jerome Dobinson launched his new range of ARTIST SKETCH BOOKS which were an instant success.  Jerome has developed this new product after participating in the 2009 book binding program.

Some works in the exhibition were for sale and nearly all work available sold.  It was purchased by local residents as well as interstate visitors.

December 4, 2009

We are now halfway through the 2009 Community Arts Program.

Twenty one students have had the opportunity to learn new skills and apply their creativity to the arts of book binding and printmaking.  The quality of the work made is very high and  the customer feedback regarding the classes  is consistently positive.

An end of year celebration will be held at Balfour House Arts centre on Saturday 19th December from 4-6.  Work made during the program will be on exhibition as well as the work of the artists  at Balfour House.

In 2010 Printmaking classes will resume on Monday 15th of February and Book binding on Friday 19th February.
